Anastessia Bettas is a Toronto based artist whose abstract work examines landscapes and cartography. She uses grids to evoke aerial views, urban sprawl, loss of open space and imaginary territories.
Bettas is a graduate of McGill University, University of Toronto and the Toronto School of Art (TSA) with a formal education in art history, fine arts and eMarketing. She has been using encaustic for over 10 years and was taught by Nicole Collins, Mona Shahid and Shawna Moore.
Bettas has exhibited her work in commercial and public galleries in Canada and the USA winning numerous accolades. She was featured in the Elaine Fleck Contemporary Art Magazine as an emerging artist to watch. Her “District” painting is part of the permanent collection in the Museum of Encaustic Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Bettas’ work was recently shown at the Atlantic Gallery in New York City.
