Jill Klaehn grew up in North Toronto surrounded by people who appreciated art. Her maternal grandmother and father were instrumental in influencing her desire to create. As a child she drew and painted continually, often in miniature, and in a variety of media. As an adult she used her creativity for other endeavours (pottery, photography, sewing, making miniatures). For 30 years Jill taught preschool children with special needs; she returned to her painting after she retired. She uses acrylics on canvas, reverse painting on plexi, oil, and watercolour.
“Drawing my inspiration from nature and painting en plein air, I hope my paintings will evoke emotions or memories in the viewer.”
